So, I'm sure most of the public has become aware that North Caroline decided to Ban Gay Marriage in their state. I have several things to speak out on this subject matter, however I'm going to take the more direct approach and just be completely honest, no sugar coating or fancy wording.

Plain, simple, truth.

When I awoke yesterday to the news of this event, not only was my anger nearly surfacing, but I actually felt tears scratching at my eyes. Knowing how directly this affects several lives, it pains me to have knowledge of such injustice.

Now, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I believe that firmly. However, can I just purpose a question here? In the state of morality, justice and humanity...

Which of these seems more sinful?

Marrying one's own family, such as first cousins? or Same sex legal unions?

Well, according to the state of North Carolina, it's acceptable to taint the blood shared between family so long as you avoid romantic relations with the same gender.

Yup, sickening isn't it? The Bible clearly states that marriage is between a man and woman right? So this is perfectly alright? Guess they see it so.

Gender should play no deciding factor is the validity of someone's marriage. So long as the couples remain within legal boundaries, obey the set laws of humanity:

No abusive behavior, committing crimes, in-sighting pointless or unjust violence, or causing other people or themselves harm...why should the government get to decide on their right to marriage?

I've heard some reasons, and here are my responses:

1. The Bible says marriage is between a man & woman!

It also requires all women be virgins at marriage, so please, you can't seriously prove that all women legally married today have kept their virginity before entering a legal union.

2. Gays ruin the honor/tradition of marriage!

Honestly? Yes, it's possible for heterosexual couples to loyal and respectful of their partners, but you also have to consider all the relationships that have gone through divorce. Everyone, including those of same sex relations are perfectly capable of honoring or dishonoring something, that applies to marriage as well.

3. It's against religion!

Alright, let's settle this here and now. The United States of America, bless this country, allows everyone to adopt their own religious beliefs. We do not have a mandatory religion or practice. Also, there's the separation of Church & State for a reason, you dumb shits. Laws, government and decisions are not supposed to be decided on the views of a faith . So you're free to have whatever God, religion, practice, witchcraft or whatever you'd like...but it's not a valid reason to deny someone their equal rights to the legal contract of marriage.

4. It's gross!

I respect this, you're being honest and saying your view. That's perfectly acceptable and you may feel however preferred. However, aside from the romantics of marriage, it's a legal documentation of rights and responsibilities that should be shared between to life partners. Important issues such as health care, adoption, fiances, and death are all supposed to be shared in a union. They aren't banned from any sexuality, nor should the rights and privileges that marriage entitles.

So that's my opinion on this situation.

Yeah, I'm here, and I hate it, too. But it is the South, and the Bible Belt as well. Can't really fix prejudice over less than a century, and even then, it'll never really leave.
I mean, the slaves were freed in 18whatevs and still, some ignorant whiteys think they're better for no reason. We were, however, one of the last states to actually vote on a marriage amendment because, understandably, the politicians knew which way it would go.
But, for reals, it's sad that people think they have any right to legislate love.
